SM North EDSA Wikipedia

SM North EDSA was built on 40 acres of marshland in a relatively remote location amidst a political crisis that saw interest rates rise as high as 45 percent. The lot was previously owned by the Government Service Insurance System and originally intended to host houses for public school teachers. It was the first mall built by SM Prime Holdings Inc., with the initial tenants being SM's fifth department store and first supermarket.

The Car Park Plaza or Annex 1, the first building, was built in February 1988. In the early 2000s the open-parking area right beside it were built up and made into its horizontal expansion to accommodate more vehicles and to integrate the newly constructed The Block. In the 2010s the building was expanded vertically by two floors via a steel structure that also integrated rooftop solar panels.

On July 28, 1989, a two-floor annex, also known as the original "Annex 2", was built providing more leasable space, a bowling alley, and four additional movie houses. The main building and the annexes were expanded with a lower ground level, and the first level of The Carpark Plaza was converted into a Cyber zone, a section reserved mainly for technology and gadget retail. On December 12, 2008, it reopened with high-end retail stores, specialty restaurants, a Cyberzone, a game arcade and a new bowling center. Any smart security system worth its salt offers components that work together in a seamless environment and can be manipulated using customized rules. For example, you can create rules to have the lights turn on when a sensor detects motion, have your doors unlock when a smoke alarm goes off, and set a camera to begin recording when a sensor triggers. Some systems store recorded video locally on an SD card or a solid-state drive, whereas others offer cloud storage. Locally stored video is a good choice for do-it-yourselfers on a budget, but you have to be careful not to overwrite video you may need later. Cloud storage makes it easy to store and access recorded video, but it can cost hundreds of dollars per year depending on your subscription.

“Ahh,” you say, “but now they have systems with video surveillance.” Very true. You can order a security surveillance kit from the likes of Swann or Lorex, but most of these still use CCTV cameras, and that means very long video cable runs, BNC connectors, and resolutions that top out at 450 lines, just like your old standard definition TVs. You probably also need a DVR and dedicated monitor to record and display all of the footage.

The Frontpoint Home Security system has everything you need to protect your home from intruders and damage that smoke and fire cause. It’s easy enough to install and works with lots of Z-Wave devices. Just note that the components and professional monitoring plans are a bit pricey.

Are Smart Locks Worth the Money?

The more expensive systems usually come with a wall-mounted panel that acts as a communications hub, with a touch-screen display that allows you to do everything the app does. The display lets you communicate with a professional monitoring service when an alarm goes off and view video from any of the installed security cameras. It is preferable in the home security system to process the raw data input from the environmental input devices during close surveillance in order to enumerate, characterize, and time stamp various types of events. To that end, the home security system may include a database of different types of events along with corresponding data patterns that characterize those events. These event tables include a table of sound events 301 and a table of video events 302.

On the other hand, the expected time lapse between the sound of breaking glass and the detection of movement might be something on the order of 2 or 3 minutes, if not longer. Even more sophisticated computed events metrics can be employed. In the monitoring step 201, the home security system essentially listens and watches through the microphone and video camera for significant changes to the normal background environment within the home. Many different criteria may be used to detect these changes. For example, in the case of sound data obtained through the microphone, a sharp rise in the overall sound level within the home above some threshold sound level value might be interpreted by the security system as a threshold event.

Perhaps even more disturbing is the idea of some stranger monitoring video from your indoor and outdoor security cameras. Like any product that connects to the internet and uses wireless technology, smart home security systems are vulnerable to hacking. Hackers can sit outside your home and use a laptop and software to intercept wireless signals coming from your system, thus allowing them to suppress alarms and disable sensors. Other devices allow hackers to generate radio noise that can jam communications between the sensors and the hub.

Components and professional monitoring are affordable. The system supports Z-Wave, IFTTT applets, and Alexa and Google Assistant, which means you can add and control loads of third-party security and home automation devices. If you’re in the market for a smart home security system and want to upgrade your home network to Wi-Fi 6 at the same time, the Ring Alarm Pro accomplishes both tasks. You can customize this versatile system with a variety of sensors and it's compatible with all of Ring’s video doorbells, cameras, and lighting devices.

It's important to note that, in some areas, you may have to file for a permit to have a security system installed in your home. The Cove Home Security System is a customizable DIY home security system that features a colorful, 7-inch touch-screen hub and a quality selection of reasonably priced add-on components including door and window sensors, a glass break sensor, CO and smoke detectors, and a flood sensor. You can also purchase a medical alert pendant that can connect you with the monitoring service in the event of an emergency. Monitoring plans are affordable, too, especially if you pay for the hardware upfront.

Firmware updates often address security issues and can help protect your system from infiltration. There are several steps you can take to make sure your home security system is safe from malicious cyber intruders. For instance, you can replace the system's default password with a unique one that contains a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols.

Many students who have invested time and effort into their IB studies want to know if their hard work will be recognized and rewarded by colleges and universities. In this article, we will explore the topic of whether colleges accept IB credits and provide you with valuable information to help you make an informed decision.

As a student, one of the biggest concerns you may have is whether the colleges and universities you are interested in will accept the IB credits you have earned. It can be disheartening to put in the effort to excel in your IB program, only to find out that your credits are not recognized by the colleges of your choice. This can lead to wasted time, money, and even the need to retake courses that you have already completed.

The answer to the question of whether colleges accept IB credits is not a simple one. It varies from institution to institution. Some colleges and universities have policies in place that recognize and accept IB credits, while others may not. It's important to research the specific colleges you are interested in and find out their policies regarding IB credits. This will help you make an informed decision about whether pursuing an IB program aligns with your college goals.

In summary, the acceptance of IB credits by colleges and universities is not universal. It is essential to research the specific policies of the institutions you are interested in to determine if your IB credits will be recognized. By doing your due diligence, you can make an informed decision about whether to pursue an IB program and ensure that your hard work is rewarded.

Do colleges accept IB credits: A Personal Experience

When I was in high school, I decided to pursue an IB program to challenge myself academically and prepare for college. I put in countless hours studying, completing projects, and taking exams. I was excited about the possibility of earning college credits through my IB courses. However, as I started researching colleges, I realized that not all institutions accepted IB credits. This was a bit disheartening, as I had hoped to save time and money by starting college with some credits already under my belt.

Despite this setback, I didn't let it deter me from pursuing the IB program. I knew that the program would provide me with a rigorous and well-rounded education, which would benefit me regardless of whether my credits were accepted by colleges. I also discovered that some colleges did recognize and accept IB credits, so I focused my research on those institutions. This helped me narrow down my college choices and ensured that I would be able to transfer my hard-earned credits if I decided to attend one of these schools.

In the end, I chose a college that accepted my IB credits, and I was able to start my college career with a few credits already completed. This allowed me to take more advanced courses and graduate a semester early. Looking back, I am grateful for my IB experience, as it not only challenged me academically but also opened doors for me in terms of college opportunities.

If you are considering pursuing an IB program, I would encourage you to do your research and find out if the colleges you are interested in accept IB credits. While it may require some extra effort, the benefits of earning college credits and being better prepared for higher education are well worth it.

What is "do colleges accept IB credits"?

"Do colleges accept IB credits" is a question that many students ask when considering pursuing an International Baccalaureate (IB) program. The IB program is a rigorous and internationally recognized curriculum that prepares students for higher education and beyond. It consists of challenging courses in various subjects, including language and literature, sciences, mathematics, individuals and societies, and the arts.

When students complete the IB program, they have the opportunity to earn college credits based on their performance in their IB courses and exams. These credits can potentially be transferred to the colleges or universities they choose to attend, allowing them to start their college careers with some credits already completed.

However, not all colleges and universities accept IB credits. Each institution has its own policies regarding the acceptance of IB credits, and it is essential for students to research these policies before deciding to pursue an IB program. By doing so, students can ensure that their hard work is recognized and rewarded by the colleges of their choice.

The History and Myth of "do colleges accept IB credits"

The history of colleges accepting IB credits dates back to the establishment of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) in 1968. The IBO was founded to create a standardized international curriculum that would provide students with a globally recognized education. Over the years, the IB program gained popularity and became a sought-after qualification for college admissions.

However, there has been some skepticism and myth surrounding the acceptance of IB credits by colleges. Some people believe that colleges do not value IB credits as highly as other advanced placement programs or that IB credits are only recognized by certain colleges. These beliefs have led to confusion and uncertainty among students considering the IB program.

In reality, many colleges and universities do recognize and accept IB credits. The IB program is highly regarded for its rigorous curriculum and the skills it develops in students. Colleges understand the value of the IB program and the effort that students put into earning their IB credits.

It is important for students to separate fact from myth and not let these misconceptions discourage them from pursuing an IB program. By researching the specific policies of the colleges they are interested in, students can ensure that their hard-earned IB credits are recognized and valued.

Are you tired of just having a job? Do you want something more fulfilling and rewarding? If so, it's time to start thinking about your career. Many people use the terms "job" and "career" interchangeably, but they actually have very different meanings. In this article, we'll explore the differences between a job and a career, and why it's important to choose the latter.

When you have a job, you're simply trading your time and skills for money. It's a means to an end, and often leaves you feeling unfulfilled and unsatisfied. On the other hand, a career is a long-term commitment to a particular profession or field. It's something that you're passionate about and dedicated to, and it provides a sense of purpose and fulfillment.

The main difference between a job and a career lies in the level of commitment and passion involved. A job is usually a short-term endeavor, while a career is a long-term commitment. With a job, you may be constantly looking for the next opportunity or promotion, whereas with a career, you're focused on growth and advancement within your chosen field.

Why Choose a Career?

Choosing a career over just having a job has many benefits. Firstly, it allows you to pursue your passion and do something that you truly enjoy. This can lead to greater job satisfaction and overall life happiness. Secondly, a career provides stability and security. When you're committed to a particular profession, you're more likely to invest time and effort into developing your skills and expertise, making you a valuable asset in the job market.

Additionally, a career offers opportunities for growth and advancement. When you're dedicated to a specific field, you have the chance to climb the ladder and take on more challenging roles. This can lead to increased responsibility, higher salaries, and greater job satisfaction. Finally, a career allows you to make a positive impact in the world. By dedicating yourself to a profession, you have the opportunity to contribute to society and make a difference in the lives of others.

How to Choose a Career?

Choosing a career can be a daunting task, but it's important to take the time to reflect on your interests, skills, and values. Consider what brings you joy and fulfillment, and think about how you can turn that into a career. Research different professions and industries, and talk to professionals in those fields to gain insights and advice. Additionally, consider pursuing further education or training to enhance your skills and increase your chances of success in your chosen career.

In conclusion, a job and a career are not the same thing. While a job provides temporary employment and income, a career is a long-term commitment to a particular profession or field. Choosing a career over just having a job offers numerous benefits, including greater job satisfaction, stability, and opportunities for growth. If you're looking for something more fulfilling and rewarding, it's time to start thinking about your career.
